G-AWNA was the first 747 to be delivered to a British airline and fly on a 'G' registration when BOAC took delivery of the aircraft on the 20th April 1970 at an original cost of $21 Million. This 'Jumbojet' was the 23rd 747 built (s/n 19761).

In 1974 BOAC and BEA merged to become British Airways, and "November Alpha" flew with them until being withdrawn from use. Throughout its career, the 747 wore three different names: "Sir Richard Grenville" (1979–1984), "City of Peterborough" (1984–1989), and finally "Colliford Lake".

G-AWNA flew her last commercial flight on 31st October 1998, flying from Philadelphia to London-Heathrow as BA068. At the time of retirement G-AWNA was the oldest and longest serving 747 still operated by its original airline owner.

Over her 28 year flying with BOAC and British Airways she spent a total of 102,151 hours in the air, making 20,919 take-offs and landings and travelled over 51 million miles.

Sadly, this historic aircraft was cut up at Bruntingthorpe in 1999, this is when the rear section of the aircraft was was removed and later transported to a small industrial area close to London-Gatwick Airport, this is where she was used for crew training and cabin fire drills until around 2014.

In 2019 Airskinz was fortunate enough to discover the aircraft section shortly before it was about to be removed and scrapped. Now you can own a piece of true aviation history.
